Welcome to Yakipedia, the online knowledge base hosted by the Yakima Basin Fish and Wildlife Recovery Board!

We hope this wiki (yes, it's the same software that runs Wikipedia) will serve as a collaborative space where we can work together to tell the story of the Yakima Basin and the work that is being done to manage and restore its fish, wildlife and water resources. Whether you are a long-timer in the basin looking for an old report you remember but can't find, a new hire wanting to understand more about the watershed you are starting a project in, or a member of the public that just stumbled here thanks to Google, this knowledge base is for you!

This is a collaborative, living effort that will grow as people lean in and contribute to it; if you see something that needs to be added or corrected or would like to become an editor so you can add your own content, do let us know!

In addition to this wiki, we're making sure that key references are available. They are cited throughout this document and are included in our Zotero online library; we're also working with the Yakima Valley Libraries to ensure the most important sources are in its digital archives. We're also building a GIS portal to share maps and geographic data for the basin; more on that in the near future!

We're hoping to translate our recovery plans into living documents housed in Yakipedia; do explore our Yakima Bull Trout Action Plan which we are in the middle of updating in this new format.

We're also working on detailed overviews of the many watersheds and reaches within the basin; you can see the list of watersheds and reaches here; links to the overviews will be added as they are developed.
