Pre-Symposium Site Tour & Evening Social

The Lower Sleepy Hollow Preserve is a 40-acre parcel at roughly RM 2.5 on the Wenatchee River that was protected from development by the Chelan Douglas Land Trust (CDLT) in 2018. Starting in 2019, and every year since, CDLT and Cascade Fisheries have been partnering to restore historic pasture grounds back into native riparian/floodplain habitat. Onsite we will discuss methods, challenges, and lessons learned, especially concerning irrigation and weed control. Additionally, this property is being transformed into an outdoor classroom. We will discuss all of the awesome outdoor education opportunities and materials that have been or are currently in development. We will finish off the tour (for those that are interested) by spending a few minutes hand pulling spotted knapweed rosettes. Gloves and specialized knapweed digging tools provided by CDLT.

Pre-Symposium Social Evening at Wenatchee Valley Brewing – Join us for a beer or a bite to meet and network with other symposium attendees and presenters! Networking Bingo starts at 5:00 – winner gets a prize!

Funding for the 2024 Symposium was graciously provided by this year’s sponsors. We’d like to extend a special thank you to our Sandbar Willow level sponsors, Wildlands Inc. and the Washington State Conservation Commission, and our Quaking Aspen sponsor Wenatchee Brewing Company for their generous donations!
