The Yakima Basin Fish & Wildlife Recovery Board (the Recovery Board) is pleased to announce the opening of the 2025 SRFB grant round. This year, the Recovery Board is seeking applications for three grant programs:
- Regular SRFB: Our longstanding grant program for projects that promote recovery of salmon, steelhead, and bull trout in the Yakima Basin. This program is anticipated to have regular funding available, $1.5-2M. Match is no longer required (for most projects). Please see the RFP.
- Riparian: Last year’s riparian grant program is returning this year for projects that protect and restore riparian areas in the Yakima Basin. This program is anticipated to have between $1.1M and $2.6M available. This is a large amount of funding and the program may not return in 2026. The Recovery Board encourages sponsors to prioritize submitting riparian projects this year. This grant program will use the same schedule and process as the regular SRFB grant program. Please see the RFP.
- Monitoring: The SRFB is rolling out a new grant program this year with $973,855 available statewide for monitoring projects that generate information about salmonids and their habitats and are used to direct restoration investments, provide accountability, and build understanding. This is a great step forward for monitoring funding and the Recovery Board aims to demonstrate to SRFB that the program should be continued and expanded by submitting strong proposals. This grant program will use a different schedule and process from the regular SRFB grant program. Please see the Monitoring RFP.
First due dates to be aware of:
- Monitoring Letters of Intent (like a big preapplication) due February 21st
- Regular/Riparian Preapplications due February 28th
